There is no grid tool in Affinity Photo but grids exist, they can't be printed though. You can add a workaround by using the grids via the view menu and then using the pen tool to add a curve or two to match the grid lines and these can then be merged with entire document and then printed. The vector grid can also be saved to the assets panel or symbols (merge the curves via the geometry / layer commands). The grid is 3 x 3 because that was a request from a viewer but you can always just create the grid, document width / 3 or height / 3 etc or 10 or 20 etc

A powerful twirl effect / twist and turn in Affinity Photo using the equations filter found in the filters menu and distort category. You can use all kinds of source material. The tutorial shows the equations filter used over multiple layers and then combined and re-applied to the end result. You can fade the twist / twirl effect and use blending modes as well as use it with shapes such as circles and hearts. The effect can also be recorded via the macro feature in Affinity Photo and re-apply in seconds.

You can add new brushes to Affinity Photo such as adding arrow brushes, grid brushes, weird brushes and many more. Affinity Photo has to be one of the best products of 2015 and 2016 but Photoshop is still in there, only it now has that subscription model that generally people are a bit miffed off with. It is still a great product but the other products such as Clip Studio Paint is proving more helpful to me with my comic book artwork than anything Related to comic books, I have to say one of the best comic books I have seen in ages and ages has to be Bandette (she has also published many others) and issue 13 is a gem but the earlier comics are amazing as well.
