Create sphere / globe / ball designs in Photoshop (how to tutorial)

How to create amazing sphere designs in Photoshop

Spheres, balls, globes etc can all be created in Photoshop CC 2019 2018 2017 etc by using a circular selection. You can create the circular selection by holding down the shift key when using the elliptical marquee tool. You can then fill the design with a gradient via the gradient tool. The gradient needs to be set to normal blending mode and radial type. Apply the gradient from a start position slightly to the top right and drag to the edge of the selection or beyond. That is the basic Photoshop sphere. You can then edit menu and copy the sphere design and paste (you can also drag the design into the CC library to store it for future use). You can also convert this into a smart object via the layer menu and smart objects and convert. You can then duplicate the sphere design by dragging and holding down the alt / option key on your keyboard. You can use the duplicated artwork to fill the whole image with spheres or perhaps create a variety of shapes and frames and edge effects. If you convert the artwork into a smart object, smart filters such as oil paint as well as 'smart' adjustments can be added to that smart object (such as black and white or curves). The spheres can then be flattened and you can then continue to manipulate the Photoshop spheres. You can also create all kinds of weird and wonderful sphere designs by using the gradient tool in blending mode 'difference'. To create a slightly better highlight for the gradient themed sphere, set the first stop in the gradient to white or use the brush tool set to white and dab the highlight on.

Spiral custom shapes for Photoshop and modifying them

Spiral custom shapes and modifying them Created 100s of different designs of spirals for Photoshop (though they were created  in Illustrator in most cases as Photoshop is not the best app for vectors) but once you have the shapes, what can you do with them ??? You can use them as is, of course, and simply add them as a pixel fill or path or shape layer Check out the video below relating to modifying a spiral shape using the direct selection tool https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SRLSRVc4_kA So how can you edit them using the direct selection tool. Well the key is that you use it as a shape layer and modify the anchor points as well as the segments etc and you can move them back and forth to create all kinds of variations of designs which can then be all re-selected and used to define as a custom shape via the edit menu. You can then save that selection as a CSH file and use them in future projects. http://www.graphicxtras.com/spirals.htm On the spirals page you can find a lo
